You can create your own fund that allows you to claim a tax deduction in the current year while being able to recommend how it's invested and how much of its income will be distributed now and in future years.
You may name the fund after a deceased loved one, e.g., (1) The Simon Sylvester Miranda Memorial Fund, your family, e.g., (2) The Miranda Foundation or for a designated Catholic Cause or institution, e.g., (3) St. Henry School Fund.
You may recommend which Charities or Institutions receive distributions of income and we will consider your advice if it is consistent with the Foundation's mission and Church teaching.
Make additional contributions to your fund. (We will provide you a regular accounting of the money in the fund by online or paper statement.)
Recommend Investment strategy by selecting from the investment pools within the foundation that have different risk-reward strategies.
Recommend that various amounts be distributed to qualified charitable organizations of your choice. (make grants online)
Receive an income tax charitable deduction at the time of contributions to your donor advised fund. You receive no further tax advantage when grants are made from the fund to other charitable organizations.
These are pre-established funds maintained for and by the Catholic Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to benefit approved charitable causes. The funds may be Endowed (perpetuity only-income distributed), Temporarily Restricted, or Unrestricted. You may contribute to any of these funds by check or online through PayPal. Distributions and Income from these funds will be published annually in the foundation’s annual financial report.
